The League plays lawn green bowls from May to August, with each team fielding three rinks of triples and must have at least one male or one female player. There are no other gender or age restrictions.

The League began in 2025 when bowlers from Hemingford Bowls Club brought together teams from five local clubs. It proudly honours Lt.-Col. Stuart Dewes Hayward, whose generous gift of the Vineyards in 1944 — now the Hemingford Peace Memorial Field — created a lasting sporting home for the Hemingfords community.
